What's the difference between a nail file and an emery board?
A nail file can broadly cover a variety of nail tools made from a number of materials, such as metal and glass. An emery board is made from cardboard coated in an abrasive mineral like emery.
Prepare the nail by ensuring the nail is clean and dry.
Hold the file gently against the nail, using the fine or coarse side as needed. The course side will file your nails, and the fine surface will smooth the nail edges.
File in one direction, moving the board from the side to the centre of the nail to avoid damage and splitting.
Use short, gentle strokes to achieve your desired length.
