Q. I’ve been using Saxenda for a while now but I am getting side effects after increasing my dose, what should I do?

Saxenda works by actin on receptors in the brain that control your appetite, causing you to feel fuller and less hungry. This may help you eat less food and reduce your body weight. Initiation with Saxenda is 1 month or 3 pens. Results vary from patient to patient but the medication claims to show results after 2 weeks.

Q. How long do Saxenda pens last?

A. Your treatment starts with a low dose which will gradually increase over the first five weeks of treatment. The usual starting dose is 0.6mg once a day for at least a week, 1.2mg week 2, 1.8mg week 3, 2.4mg once a day week 4 and week 5 onwards 3.0mg once a day. Pen one should last 17 days, pen 2 8.5 days. Pen 3 6.5 days, each subsequent pen should last 6 days.

Q. Where to inject Saxenda?

A. The Saxenda shot can be injected into the upper arm, thigh or front of stomach. Users should not inject the medication into the veins or muscles.
